Oooooooh!

Odyssey looks shiny.... much more shiny than I had been anticipating. Oh, choices, choices!

*drums fingers in indecision*

What initial thoughts are you having character-wise?

I'm pondering/recruiting myself :)

I'm not sure, to be honest. I'm tempted with being a general follower/slave/scuttler for the first few, just to get into it, but I don't want to do Egyptian because I've already done it a few times for Omega and then Amun-Sa with Maelstrom (okay, independent group attached to said Amun-Sa, but still sandy!)

I'm tempted with either Rome or Carthage, but I'm planning to be so flexible that if there's a good group concept I'd probably fit in with it. I suspect I'd do better following one of the warbands rather than, say, a philosopher group though (although again it depends on the concept). I suspect I probably won't get a good idea of what I want to do until I've been to one event and seen exactly what it's gonna be like, in the same way as Maelstrom ^^

Has anything taken your fancy yet?

Well, now that you mention it... :)

I've decided I want to have a crack at putting together a group, because Maelstrom is one where I create characters and end up affiliated somewhere eventually. I'm *seriously* leaning toward Persia at the moment - and it would probably centre well around a bunch of Immortals, though I want to play a non-combat role (Vizier is looking very appealing to me). I'm looking at a general-purpose mob where the champions and warchief can mosh to their hearts content and where the other games get played as well.

I can't really do Rome or Greece because, again, of Maelstrom. Be happy to have you along if you like - hopefully my plan will be less wishy-washy after I've spoken to a few people!

Oh, that definitely sounds promising! Persia was the other one I was tempted with, although for the pathetic reason of the costume looking pretty damned nifty (and I have some stuff purchased from Egypt that really does look pretty Persian, which makes it easier!)

I'm planning to pester Bob and Andy about it this weekend, I'll see whether they'd be tempted ^^

Cool. If they are, I'd be delighted to see them! Let me know - and I'll keep you posted on any developments here...

Russ? Need a Toady sidekick? I really do enjoy playing toady sidekicks (he said psychoanalysing himself as he spoke)

Could work - I can think of several possibilities for that one...

Oh, if you get a toady sidekick I'm definitely in! (as long as I'm actually going to it! Have booked all Maelstroms, didn't think we were gonna do Odyssey as well - must boot the Bob) ^^

Just spoken to Bob - he's up for Persian, likely to be a Magus "Death Cult" (not one of the kits, something that allows him to put people to rest and open up the Gates of Horn)

And he said "The thing about the persians is not what the society can do, it's what it can't" - seems to be something about the kits that means healers need to be adjusted to fit rather than generally there, but to be honest he's been looking at the booklet more and you'll probably understand what he's wibbling about more than I do!

Bob's on "incrediblydevious @ hotmail.com" if you wanted to send him anything to froth over. And I suspect a Death Cult might work nicely with Mr Toady over there.. ;)

Excellent. Well initial response tells me I've a group there if I want it - so I'll keep you posted.

Also I shall likely have a chat to Bob when my reading has become more detailed. General thoughts on numbers is that we'll end up more mystically inclined than martially, but difficult to say at the moment.

Further to this - someone's just sent me a great idea I think we can run with. I'm going to forward what I have to Bob for his perusal. I have also set up a FB group I have invited you to.
