A plea for assistance! Due to a fic that's being written I would be incredibly grateful if anyone can give me the names of common cleaning products for clothes washing (machine based rather than hand wash preferably) - for the UK examples would be Daz and Ariel.

US products would be especially welcomed, although anywhere would be great. If there are any "jingles" or things connected to the names that would also be cool - again a UK example is the Daz doorstep challenge where some random annoying celebrity from daytime tv knocks on peoples doors and asks to see their whites, yet manage to get out of the conversation with their teeth still intact. Crazy! The cheesier the better.

Thanks!!

(Very well known laundry detergent in the U.S.) "Tide" has had a number of taglines over the years:

- “Best against dirt”
- “Tide’s In, Dirt’s Out”
- “Tide gets out the dirt kids get into”
- “Dirt can’t hide from intensified Tide”
- “If it’s got to be clean, it’s got to be Tide.”

Some other US brands are Cheer and Gain. I cannot for the life of me remember any of the annoying commercials, though.

And on a side note, the fabric softener I just bought is called Nice 'n Fluffy . . .

Another US brand is All and if you want to go natural you have Ecover and Seventh Generation.

Can't remember any jingles though.

A couple of things that spring to mind from my visits to the US. Chlorox (sp) - you stick that in with your normal washing stuff I think, it's a kind of bleach but is colour safe. Calgon rings bells but I have not idea where that is from.

From the UK we have Persil, Daz, I remember something called Omo (not entirely unconnected!)Ariel and and Fairy!

The biggie in NZ is Persil, currently "Dirt is Good", and there are others but I'm currently having a MOAG moment.

We have the annoying salesperson trying to get things clean with a whitener called Nappy-san (think the ads are Aussie though), and in one ad they even turn up at his home and go hunting for dirty stuff.

Ha! You're a fabric softener!!!

If you're still looking for names, there's always Downy, the fabric softener.
